Create your first email account in DirectAdmin

Learn how to create email accounts under your domain name within DirectAdmin. Creating an email account is easy using your control panel. We show you how, step by step.

What are the requirements for creating an email account in DirectAdmin?

To have a personalized email you need at least:

  • A registered domain. Normally closely related to your project or business. In Bacan's case, our domain is Bacan.com
  • A hosting service. Where the domain is connected and you can add services like email.

Creating an email step by step in the DirectAdmin control panel

To create your first email account in DirectAdmin, follow these steps:
1. Log in to your DirectAdmin account.
2. Choose the domain on which you want to create the email account. You can find the domain selection in the top right corner.
3. Click "Email" in the main menu.
4. Click "Create Account".
5. Enter the account name for the email account you want to create.
6. Choose a strong password for this account.
7. Select the storage capacity you want to assign to the account.
8. Click "Create" to create the new email account.

You can now configure your email client to use this new email account and start sending and receiving emails.

Are email accounts created with my own domain?

If you have a domain installed on your hosting, you can create email accounts with that same domain. So yes, it is possible to create email accounts with your own domain or business name. As many emails as you need.

Welcome to Bacan. This is a brief video to learn how to create email accounts within the DirectAdmin platform. A few important things to keep in mind:

First, this small box that appears here shows the domains installed within this Hosting account. When we want to create an email address, we first need to select the correct domain. We'll use bacan.com. Then we go to the email accounts section. As you can see, the control panel is currently in English. If you want to change it to another language, go to "Profile" → "Appearance Options" and change the language there. Close and all the information will appear in your chosen language.

We see "Email Accounts", enter and simply click the "Create Account" button. Choose the account name you want to create and test. The password you want to use — you can click the dice icon to generate a password you can view by clicking the eye icon. You can copy this password or simply set the password you want. Naturally, if you enter something very simple, it will tell you that you need uppercase and lowercase letters. As soon as you add an uppercase letter, it will immediately let you continue creating the password. The more complex the password, the more secure your email. Using words without numbers, uppercase letters or special characters is not a good idea in this day and age. It's better to use complex passwords that you know you can remember, but complex ones.

Then you would enter the storage size you need. You can check "Maximum" so there is no limit for this email account or define 500 MB, which is enough. And what is the sending quota. By default it is set to the maximum you have contracted. Create the account, it gives you a message with the account information: user, password, email server and also shows the port you need to use for the SMTP protocol.

With that you simply go to your email client, whether it's webmail, Outlook, Thunderbird or whichever client you prefer, and you can start using the account you just created.
