What is Mail-Tester and why is it so useful?
Mail-Tester.com is a free and very simple tool that analyzes the "health" of your emails. Its main function is to give you a score from 1 to 10 based on the technical quality of your send.
What is it for?
-
Detects technical errors: Checks if your hosting has the security records (SPF, DKIM and DMARC) correctly configured.
-
Analyzes your content: Alerts you if the text or images you use look like "misleading advertising" to Gmail or Outlook filters.
-
Checks Blacklists: Verifies if your server's IP has been reported for sending spam.
How to use Mail-Tester step by step
It's very intuitive. No registration or installation needed:
-
Go to the website: Visit mail-tester.com.
-
Copy the unique address: You'll see a randomly generated email address (example:
test-a1b2c@srv1.mail-tester.com). Copy it. -
Send an email: Go to your email account (the one you normally use at your Bacan.com hosting) and compose a new message.
-
Important: Don't send an empty email. Write a subject and real message body, just as you'd send it to a client.
-
Paste the address you copied in the recipient field and click Send.
-
-
Check your score: Return to the Mail-Tester tab and click the "Then check your score" button.
-
Review the report: In seconds, you'll see a score from 1 to 10. If you click on each section, the tool will tell you exactly what to improve.
Tips for getting a "10" on your send
-
Avoid "trigger" words: Words like "FREE", "OFFER", "MONEY" in capitals tend to lower your score.
-
Image-text balance: Don't send emails that are just one large image. Spam filters can't read images and will be suspicious of you. Always include descriptive text.
-
Technical configuration at Bacan: In our DirectAdmin panel, make sure you have the DKIM and SPF records active. If you don't know how, our support can help you verify them in a moment.
Remember
-
Purpose: Diagnose why your emails don't reach their destination.
Ease of use: Only requires sending a test email to a temporary address.
Diagnosis: Analyzes both the technical side (server) and the content (message).
Free: You can run up to 3 tests daily at no cost.
