What does Google think about hidden text?

Hiding keyword-heavy text from users is a risky tactic that search engines do not like.

Google does not like hidden text used for manipulation, and it can make you pay for it in rankings.

This usually refers to content that is invisible to visitors but stuffed with keywords for search engines, such as text that matches the background color or is hidden purely to influence rankings.

Why it is a bad idea

  • it creates a deceptive experience
  • it violates search engine quality guidelines
  • it can lead to ranking losses or manual action

If text is important enough for Google to read, it should usually be visible and useful to real visitors too.
