How do I install WordPress on my Bacan hosting?

Installing WordPress on your Bacan hosting is a matter of minutes using Softaculous from the control panel. Here is how.

WordPress is the world's most widely used content management system and can be installed on your Bacan hosting in just a few minutes thanks to Softaculous, the automatic installer included in cPanel and DirectAdmin.

Installation with Softaculous (cPanel)

  1. Log in to your cPanel from the Bacan client area.
  2. Find Softaculous Apps Installer in the software section.
  3. Inside Softaculous, click on WordPress.
  4. Click Install.
  5. Fill in the installation form:
    • Installation URL: select the protocol (https://) and the domain where you want to install WordPress.
    • Site name and description: the name of your website.
    • Admin username and password: the credentials you will use to access the WordPress dashboard. Choose a strong password.
    • Admin email: where WordPress notifications will be sent.
  6. Click Install and wait for Softaculous to complete the process (under 1 minute).

When finished, you will see links to access your site and the WordPress admin panel (yourdomain.com/wp-admin).

Installation with Softaculous (DirectAdmin)

The process is identical. Log in to your DirectAdmin, find Softaculous in the menu, and follow the same steps described above.

Can I install WordPress manually?

Yes. If you prefer a manual installation:

  1. Download WordPress from wordpress.org.
  2. Upload the files to the root directory of your domain via FTP.
  3. Create a MySQL database from the control panel.
  4. Open your domain in a browser and follow the WordPress installation wizard.

The automatic installation with Softaculous is faster and less error-prone, but the manual method gives you more control over the process.

What PHP version does WordPress require?

WordPress requires PHP 7.4 as a minimum, although it recommends using the most recent version available (currently PHP 8.x). On Bacan you can select the PHP version from the control panel. If you are using a version that is too old, compatibility notices may appear in the WordPress dashboard.

Does WordPress on Bacan include automatic updates?

WordPress can be updated automatically (core, plugins, and themes) if you configure it that way from its admin panel. Bacan does not interfere with that process. It is recommended to enable automatic updates at least for security patches.
