WordPress is one of the most widely used content management systems in the world, and it is also one of the most attacked. So it is essential to protect it well. There are many tools available, and one we really like is called Wordfence — a blend of "word" and "WordPress" — which acts as a barrier.
Wordfence lets us block many of these attacks and also allows us to scan for existing problems in our current installation.
So, to install Wordfence, it is very simple. First, log in to WordPress and go to Plugins — Wordfence is a plugin. What we are going to do is install it. We click Add New, and on the plugins screen we can see many popular plugins.
We search for "Wordfence". The first result is Wordfence. As you can see, it is a very popular and well-regarded plugin, as shown by the five-star rating. We click Install, and within a few seconds the installation is complete. The plugin is installed.
The very important next step is to activate the plugin. We activate it and it is now installed on our WordPress site. Here we have Wordfence Security. It is active and installed.
