When you connect via FTP, you access what is known as the "root" of your account on the server.
You will notice that there are a number of files and directories already installed before you upload your first file to the server.
These files and directories must not be manipulated, deleted, or renamed. All of these files are essential for the correct functioning of your service. Please do not delete them.
Your main working area is the public_html folder, where you should upload the files you want to publish on the web.
