I want to change the main domain name. Is it possible?

The main domain name on my hosting account is no longer in use or no longer exists. Can it be changed to use another name as the primary domain?

Yes, absolutely, but you need to keep several important aspects in mind to ensure the change does not cause significant problems — and if it does, that you know how to resolve them.

First.

The new domain name must not already be installed on any of our servers. And if it is, you must give us explicit permission to remove it and reinstall it as the main domain.

Second.

You must decide whether you want to reinstall your hosting account with the new domain name or simply change the primary domain name on the existing hosting. These two options are completely different. A reinstallation with the new name includes the complete deletion of the account and all its content. This is ideal if the current hosting content has no value. If, on the other hand, the hosting information is important and cannot be lost, then you should choose the domain name change option. When you write to us, clearly indicate whether you want a name change or a reinstallation of the service.

Third.

If you choose a reinstallation, you should be aware that any code that used the old domain name will stop working, since that name will be removed from the server.

Fourth.

If you choose to keep the information without any deletion, keep in mind that the new primary domain will take ownership of the old primary domain's content. If the new primary domain was already installed on the hosting account as an additional domain, the webmaster will need to move all files to the new location in /public_html/
