How do I add an additional domain in cPanel?

Add an additional domain to your Bacan hosting from cPanel to host multiple websites on the same plan.

With your Bacan hosting you can host multiple websites on the same plan by adding additional domains from cPanel. Each additional domain has its own folder on the server and operates completely independently.

Steps to add a domain in cPanel

  1. Log into your cPanel.
  2. In the Domains section, click on Domains.
  3. Click the Create a New Domain button.
  4. Enter the name of the domain you want to add. The domain must already be registered (it can be registered with Bacan or any other registrar).
  5. Choose whether you want it to share the document root with the main domain or have its own folder (recommended for independent sites).
  6. Click Submit.

cPanel will automatically create the domain's folder on the server.

Pointing the domain to Bacan's servers

For the added domain to display your site, its DNS must point to Bacan's servers. If the domain is registered with another registrar, log into their management panel and change the nameservers to Bacan's. You can find Bacan's nameservers in your welcome email or in the client area.

DNS propagation can take between 1 and 48 hours, although it typically completes in under 4 hours.

How many additional domains can I add?

It depends on your contracted hosting plan. Check your plan details in the Bacan client area to see the exact limit.

Additional domain vs subdomain

  • Additional domain: a completely independent domain like anothersite.com. Requires prior registration.
  • Subdomain: an extension of your main domain like store.yourdomain.com. Created directly from cPanel at no extra cost.
