Since 1 January 2014, ICANN introduced a new requirement for domain registration known as the "RAA verification policy". All registrars are obliged to comply with it.
The rule aims to ensure that all domains are registered by real users. To achieve this, any user who registers a new domain receives an email asking them to verify their email address by clicking a link. This automatically sends the verification.
It's a simple process but very important. If you buy a domain and don't verify it within 15 days, it will stop working.
As of 1 January 2014, you'll need to verify your email when you:
- Register a new domain
- Transfer a domain to another registrar
- Change your domain's contact details
My domain has been suspended due to lack of verification. What should I do?
Check all the emails we've sent you about your domain. One of them contains the verification link. You probably missed it. Find the email and click the link. Once verified, your domain will start working immediately. There may be a brief delay due to DNS propagation, but your domain will be back up soon.
My domain has been suspended but I haven't received a verification email. What should I do?
This is an unusual situation. It's most likely that the verification email went unnoticed. If you genuinely cannot find it, contact our support team and we'll resend it.
My domain has been suspended because the email I used doesn't work or I no longer have access to it. What should I do?
In this case we'll need to update the email linked to the domain. Send us an email address you can access so we can send you the verification email.
How do I verify my contact details?
You'll receive an email from our registrar at the email address you provided. The email contains a link — clicking it automatically verifies that your details are correct.
What happens if I don't verify my contact details?
If the contact details of a domain are not verified, the domain is suspended after 15 days. Once you verify them, the domain will start working again immediately.
Why didn't I receive a verification email?
This depends on the domain extension or whether your details were already verified in the past for other domains.
Extensions that require verification include:
.com, .xyz, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .asia, .name, .mobi
When should I verify my contact details?
As soon as possible, and within 15 days of registering the domain.
Where was the verification code sent?
All emails related to your domain are sent to the administrative contact of the domain — the email you used when registering.
I can't find the verification email for my domain. What can I do?
Open a ticket with our support team and we'll resend it to the same email address you provided when registering.
How long does it take for the service to be restored once the details are verified?
Generally it's a quick process. The domain is usually available again within an hour, but in the worst case it could take up to 72 hours.
