Can I change the data that appears in the WHOIS?

Don't want your data to appear in the WHOIS? Want to change something? Here's what you can and cannot do.

The data that appears in WHOIS is mainly technical — such as DNS servers, registration and expiry dates, last update, registrar, etc. That data cannot be changed.

Additionally, some contact information appears, though increasingly less, as data protection laws have removed personal details from WHOIS. There is therefore little to change at that level.

The only thing you can do is hide your WHOIS data, preventing anyone from finding out anything about your domain via WHOIS. This service is called Private WHOIS.
